'Throwbacks...'

Oh yeah…the baby pictures are coming out
I won't lie, the last couple of days have been a bit rubbish. You know how it is, sometimes life is banging and all...
'YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY WOOOOOOOOO'

and then sometimes life isn't banging and is all…

'NAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY BOOOOOOOOO'

*Actual real life measurements for deciding how great life is*

So today after work I decided to walk home, blow the cobwebs (and the pack of Jammie Dodgers I ate yesterday) away and hope that I would get some inspiration for what to write about tonight. Yeahhh…the only thing that came into my head was that it was indeed the wrong day to wear a fleeced bomber jacket. 5 mile walk in the sun…that sh*t ain't pretty for anybody.

But as I was flicking through Instagram tonight I saw countless posts with this #TB. For the older readers out there (Mum, this bit is for you), TB stands for Throwback. Genius. And what day do we 'Throwback' on I hear you say Mother! We throwback on a Thursday. So I had my idea for a post.

I thought I would do my Top 5 throwback pictures for 2 reasons-
  1. It would give you lovely readers a chance to get a little glimpse into this groaning woman's life.
  2. It might cheer me up a bit and provide me with mega lols seeing old pictures (Why did no one tell me about eyebrow pencils…)
Brace yourselves…we're going back…

Mum and Me at her 30th Birthday Party in 2005

Let this sink in for a second, my mum is 30 in this picture. 30 years old. 30.
FREEKING LOOK AT HER!!! I'm hoping that I too have been blessed with the 'anti-ageing' genes.
#PrayforRiRi.
Even though I am hideously unimpressed with my self that I thought a centre parting, on my chubby face, was ever a good idea, I am loving this throwback to when I was 10. Its hard to believe that I was ever shorter that my Mum!

However, its also not hard to believe that 11 years on and this hug can still fix nearly anything.

I wil get there eventually and do a post about my dancing, but I just know that its going to be one massive challenge to write…a massive challenge that is not good for a Thursday evening. But for now, have a picture!
These pictures were taken at our last competition together and even though these two pictures are tainted with all sorts of feelings, good and bad, I can't help but smile when see them. We had such a successful competition results wise but for me, up to that year, I had never had so much fun dancing with someone before and thats what honestly stands out in my mind.
For sure, we argued countless times, we wound each other up and we fell out with each other massively! (No joke, we didn't speak..for 2 weeks). But even throughout all of that, we really did care about each other. We was doing it for each other. And for me, these two pictures will always remind us of that.

Joey and Me on our year 8 French Trip in 2007

BONJOUR JOEY!

This man, this beautiful hunk of a man, is quite possibly the love of my life and I am so beyond bloody lucky to be able to call him my friend.
I first met Joe at the back of a coach (I was a cool kid, obvs got the back seats) on our way to France. By the time we go off in Calais, I was a little bit in love with him. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh don't tell him, he will never let me live it down. I just can't get over how young we look...and boy am I glad we learnt how to take a better picture!
But, 9 years on and he still puts up with me and my swearing and has finally realised that his own bad language increases by at least 5% every time he sees me. Ooops.
But its cool, he still loves me.
I'm sure at some point in the near future I'll end up writing a whole piece about this guy, sharing the love.

Alf and me in 2007

This beautiful little guy was in our lives for 9 lovely years and there is not a day goes by when a funny memory of him doesn't go through my mind. He was the dopiest, scattiest dog in the world but he really did bring us so much happiness and whenever I look at this picture it makes me remember how much we loved having him as one of the family.
There is a saying about dogs from the film Marley and Me,

'A dog has no use for fancy cars or big homes or designer clothes. Status symbol means nothing to him. A waterlogged stick will do just fine. A dog judges others not by their color or creed or class but by who they are inside. A dog doesn't care if you are rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his.'

And its true. Alfie really did give us his heart and for that, I will be forever grateful.

Sassin' at the Anniversary Dance in 2014

And for my last favourite Throwback it had to go to my girl.

This was taken at our dance schools 50th Anniversary Dinner Dance and I can just remember how much fun we had that night. Whenever I'm with this wonderful lady I always have the best time…and yes I am fully aware how cringey I sound right now but its my blog so I'll cringe all over it…ok, that sounds properly filthy, sorry about that, use the 'Etch-a-Sketch' we have in our brains…give it a shake…and its gone. Never happened.

This was the night that Tia was doing my eye makeup and she came out with one of the biggest 'burns' I have received, it went a little like this…

"Oooooh your eyebrows don't match….not my problem".

Like could she be any more savage!? No. Could she be any more truthful. No…my eyebrows were terrible. The silly eyebrow waxer ruined them by taking off about an inch more on one than the other…she not only killed my vibe, but she also over waxed the only symmetrical thing on my face. Not cool lady…not cool.

So there you have it, my top 5 throwbacks. I hope you feel like you know me a little more now, after all if a picture is 'worth a thousand words', you just got 5000. Wham Bam.
I really do love it when you can look at a picture and hundreds of memories come rushing back, its like watching a mini movie in your head. So next time you're feeling a bit down and out, grab the photo albums, go deep into the Facebook account and look back at all the amazing, lovely and fun memories you already have…its perked me right up.

Until next time,
